Marvin has been dabbling in oil paint for almost sixty years. He was a cartoonist for The Daily Aztec newspaper at San Diego State College in the early ‘60s, and for several years had a cartoon strip published in a weekly San Diego County newspaper. He does traditional landscapes, still- lifes, and the occasional pet portrait; with his cartoonist state of mind, many of the paintings include a humorous twist involving puns and word play.
