"I love to paint. As a young woman, I studied art and art history in college. This background gave me a foundation in design, drawing and appreciation of many styles. I am always thrilled to visit great art museums and galleries to explore the wide world of art.

My husband and I take a lot of photographs which I often use as reference for painting, as well as using photos from my talented friends. I do strive to be a very spontaneous painter and paint en plein air whenever it’s possible.

I mostly paint with acrylics on canvas now, but have enjoyed oils, pastels, and watercolor. I am involved with a group of Monday morning painters at the Calistoga Art Center and am in class with Connie Wright at the Upper Valley Campus on Wednesdays. Occasionally I take workshops with regional artists.

I grew up in International Falls, Minnesota, and have lived in Minneapolis, Seattle, Anchorage, and in Oregon, before moving to Calistoga in 2006, where I now happily reside." -Diane Kuykendall
