Drinking tea has been a part of human culture since our earliest recorded texts. It has been one of the first medicines humans have turned to since the cultivation of fire. In this talk we will examine the fascinating history of tea as medicine—dive into who, what, where, and why some plants became more popular and others faded away. We will sample an array of teas and find out why tea is still our first form of medicine. Charlotte Powell is a local herbalist and owner of The Mother’s Garden, where she cultivates medicinal plants for teas and herbal remedies. You can find her in her garden in Calistoga.
