André was born 120 years ago in 1901 and arrived in Napa Valley in 1938 to forever change its wines and vines. He came at the invitation of Georges de Latour to be chief winemaker for Beaulieu Vineyard founded in 1900 by Georges and his wife Fernande.
The list of winemakers mentored by André at Beaulieu and later as a consulting winemaker is as long as it is impressive. Come hear from Professor Emeritus James O Gump how André instilled and inspired new practices for growing and making the wines of Napa Valley. We’ll also learn of André’s extraordinary experiences prior to coming to the valley that readied him for his successful pursuit of a new career in wine.
