Salsas will be judged on taste, texture, and overall awesomeness. Salsas must be made from scratch, no store-bought concoctions. Bring your salsa(s) to the library in a covered plastic bowl. If your salsa should be served hot, bring it in a crock pot so that it will remain hot. Please prepare about 4 cups for tasting. Both inexperienced and experienced cooks are eligible to enter the contest, BUT salsas must be made in a home kitchen. Salsas must be received and registered at the library no later than 6:00 pm on the evening of the contest, Thursday, September 19. Please provide your recipe, listing ingredients, and proportions. If you win in a category, the recipe will be posted on the website as you have presented it. Please rate your salsa as Mild, Medium, or Hot. (Very Hot! is a separate category.) The judging of each category will take place between 6:15 pm and 7:00 pm and winners will be announced that evening. Voting is free and everyone may vote six times. There will be terrific prizes in each category. The library will provide chips and beverages for the judging and the tasting!
