AUDIOVISUAL MATERIALS POLICY
AT THE ST. HELENA PUBLIC LIBRARY


WHO MAY BORROW

• Any person having a valid SNAP (Solano, Napa and Partners) library card may check out audiovisual materials.
• You must be at least 18 years old to check out videos and DVDs. If you are under 18 years old, you may check out videos and DVDs if your parent is present and gives his/her approval.

CIRCULATION

• Videos and DVDs circulate for 7 days.
• St. Helena Library music CDs, CD books and cassette books circulate for 28 days. Materials borrowed from other SNAP libraries may have a different loan period.

BORROWING LIMITS

• The maximum number of items checked out per person is: 10 DVDs and videos (e.g., 6 DVDs plus 6 videos is over the limit); 10 music CDs (except, no limit for Juvenile CDs); 10 cassette books; 10 CD books.
• The maximum total number of items of any kind checked out per person is 50.

RENEWALS

• All materials may be renewed twice (by phone, online or in person at the Library) unless someone else has placed a request for the item. An item cannot be renewed if it is more than 14 days overdue.
• Items borrowed from libraries other than SNAP libraries may not be renewed.

FINES AND FEES

• The fine for overdue adult items is 20 cents per day. The maximum fine is $6.00.
• The assessment for lost or damaged items is the list price plus a processing fee of $6.00.

DAMAGE TO AUDIOVISUAL MATERIALS OR USERS EQUIPMENT

• Library customers assume responsibility for audiovisual materials borrowed which become damaged using their electronic equipment.
The library is not responsible for damage to customer's electronic equipment (e.g. VCRs, tape players, DVD players, computers, computer disks)  that may result from damaged or defective videos, audiotapes, DVDs, etc.)
Library customers assume all responsibility for their disks or hardware used in conjunction with library equipment.

CARE OF MATERIALS

• Please handle all videos, DVDs, CDs and cassette tapes with care.
• If damage occurs or if you notice that an item has been previously damaged, please notify Library staff.
