ALL ABOUT OZ LIBRARY PROGRAMS
To mark the release of the new film Oz the Great and Powerful, the library is collaborating with Nimbus Arts and the Cameo Cinema to create a two-week-long series of Oz-related activities. Participate in designated library events and receive a free ticket to see the new film at the Cameo.
Thursday, March 28th, at 7:00 pm: The Wizard of Oz Trivia Smackdown
Who wrote the Wizard of Oz books? (That answer’s easy.) How many books are in the Oz series? (Hmm, not so easy.) Name the recent musical and movie based on Oz stories. (Sure, can do.) Now, who played . . . ? You get the picture. Come test your knowledge of all things Wizard-ly and Oz-zy, including spinoffs! Or come to get an earful of information you didn’t know you didn’t know! You’re encouraged to come dressed in Oz-Drag! Great prizes will be awarded to trivia winners and best costumes! All participants will be awarded a Cameo Cinema ticket.

Venga a ver la película musical que es ahora un clásico del cine y basado en la novela infantil El maravilloso mago de Oz de L. Frank Baum. Dorothy y su perro Toto son arrastrados por un tornado hasta la fantástica tierra de Oz. En compañía de un espantapájaros sin cerebro, un león sin valentía, y un hombre de hojalata sin corazón, todos van en busca del mago de Oz para pedirle su ayuda a cumplir sus deseos. Monday, April 1st, Noon–6:00 pm: THE WONDERFUL WIZARD OF OZ READ-A-THON
Readers are wanted for 15-minute time-slots. Every participant will earn a ticket to see the new movie, Oz the Great and Powerful, at the Cameo Cinema. Registration is required! Sign up early! Come in to the library or call 963-5244, ext 4.
Tuesday, April 2nd, at 3:30 pm: Oz Crafts & Snacks
Bring an old pair of shoes and turn them into ruby slippers, make a hot-air balloon craft, decorate a scarecrow, and more while you snack on Munchkin Munchies! All ages welcome.
Wednesday, April 3rd, at 3:30 pm: Oz 1970s-style: The Wiz
Ease on down the yellow-brick road with The Wiz, starring superstars Diana Ross and Michael Jackson! Relive all of the magic of this beloved musical when Dorothy is whisked away to the enchanting wonderland of Oz, where she encounters the Scarecrow, the Tinman and the Lion. The Wiz features spectacular musical numbers from legendary producer Quincy Jones and an all-star cast, including Lena Horne, Richard Pryor, Nipsey Russell, and Ted Ross.
